Lux Bond & Green

LB&G works with a few hundred vendors and while most of the relationships are strong and respectful, it's not all seamless. "My biggest gripe with some vendors," she explains, "is we need more communication. I'd love to work more as a team and talk about what's working and what's not. I'm always looking for ways to make things better." That includes in-store events like intimate dinners, wine tastings, workshops, and artist signings. "I'd rather do one unbelievable event than ten not so great events," Green imparts. And there's little repetition. "We don't want to overexpose vendors."

This 'keep 'em wanting more' philosophy has held LB&G in fine fettle for some time now. While the future of the independent retailer remains unclear, LB&G's 'where there's a will there's a way' ethos makes this specialty store a shining beacon in an otherwise darkening landscape. "As an independent," Sheryl Green says, "I'm extremely concerned about the future of independents. I'd love to see this category continue. We offer service and selection that others can't and customers realize that." The unpredictable future is particularly poignant because a fifth generation of Greens waits in the wings. Seven kids, age 12 to 27, all of whom have worked in the stores will one day decide if the family business appeals to them as much as their forebearers. "The opportunity is there for them if they want it," says Marc Green, adding that the odds of a private, family-owned retailer making it to five generations is extremely rare. But somehow we suspect the enterprising Greens will continue to beat the odds leaving the tabletop industry on the winning side of that equation.

The Company They Keep

Lux Bond & Green is in a small but valuable group, among the 'couture' jewelers in the U.S. They have continually enhanced their fine jewelry and watch business over the years, but preserved diversity within their overall assortment by always allocating significant shelf space and holding a place of honor for fine tabletop and gift items within their growing chain of stores. As so many jewelers abandon or neglect the fine crystal product category, we are indebted to Lux Bond & Green for upholding the value and image of Baccarat in the minds of their clients.

Reed & Barton has enjoyed a strong relationship with Lux Bond & Green for many years. They have great stores that are always beautifully merchandised with a fine selection of the better brands in our industry. They’re a great retailer to be associated with and Sheryl Green is always a pleasure to deal with.

Lux Bond & Green is one of those gems that proves there is a vibrant life outside the gigantic chains. Their stores are top quality, their staffs are knowledgeable, and their management is very involved. Sheryl Green always goes to tabletop market and she and husband Marc are very supportive of high-end product lines; our business with LB&G has grown tremendously.

I enjoy working with Sheryl Green. She is soft-spoken, every bit the gentlewoman, and has a clear point of view on product. She cannot be ‘sold’ per se, but if she believes in a product range or pattern she backs it up. I trust her taste level and it permeates throughout the Lux Bond & Green stores. Now, if you want a watch, her husband is the guy to see.

Lux Bond & Green is an exemplary dealer. Their sales programs and knowledgeable and dedicated sales team enable LB&G to both represent and sell our entire product range – rather than specializing in one or two patterns – with graciousness and ease. They understand the historical importance of our brand and the dinnerware we offer today. Impeccable service, a beautiful environment, and dedication of the management and sales team makes LB&G one of the most important luxury retailers in the Northeast and nationwide.

For many years we’ve enjoyed a wonderful partnership and friendship with Lux Bond and Green, a premiere store that has been a champion at incorporating high-end luxury gifts into their mix of jewelry and watches. We’re honored to be part of this wonderful company and grateful for our friendship with Sheryl and Marc.

Lux Bond & Green is an excellent top-of-the-line specialty store that has done very well with Rosenthal for many years...a risk taker who a couple of years back featured Divino stemware and built an amazing six-figure business from scratch in a short time frame.

We like Lux Bond & Green because not only are they a premium jewelry store, but they have a full-fledged active gift and tabletop department featuring the best brands in the industry.

In these days of limited full-line independents, it’s so nice to see a family business like Lux Bond & Green thriving. We have a lot in common, are very good friends, and continue to be impressed with the job they do.

Lux Bond & Green sets a standard for retailers that understand and respect fine quality product. I salute their commitment to selling design and quality and to educating and training their sales associates to execute that commitment.

Lux Bond & Green has always been a wonderful retailer to the carriage trade. I love their ability to transform the selling floor to a place where you’ll find the ‘what’s happening and new’ along with classic. This creates an atmosphere of excitement for the customer as well as the vendor. Sheryl Green, her buying staff, and sales associates are very supportive as well as interested and knowledgeable about the products they sell, yet always eager for new information about all of the tabletop and gift lines I represent.

When William Yeoward Crystal was first introduced in the U.S., Lux Bond & Green was one of the first stores we went to visit having enthusiastically been recommended by industry friends. We were not disappointed and found Marc and Sheryl Green to be among the most professional and nicest people on the retail scene. Over the last ten years, we’ve had a very close connection with Sheryl and have admired her excellent eye and great sense of style, and Marc has been a tremendous source of support and encouragement. The Lux Bond & Green stores are always a pleasure to visit. Apart from a very successful business relationship, we’ve also had some memorable times with Marc and Sheryl and we love their sense of humor and passion in all that they do and understand that this is a vital ingredient in their much deserved success. Long may they continue setting a benchmark for the industry!
